Glass Breakage Procedure

A glass or hard plastics breakage is a serious incident. If a breakage occurs, all reasonable steps must be taken to isolate and remove possibly contaminated goods and to investigate the reason for the breakage.

This also applies if a staff member or visitor to the manufacturing areas loses or breaks personal spectacles and/or contact lenses.

Operatives and visitors

  • If any breakage occurs, inform the manager immediately.

Responsibilities

  • All personnel and visitors must report any glass or hard plastics breakage
  • Managers ensure compliance with the procedure
  • The Technical Manager investigates and maintains accurate records
